A staple of the State Fair, the displays on view by individual California counties are always fun, creative, and educational. Where else can one see the beauty of the California coastline just feet away from waving fields of grain? Developed and built by local councils, college groups, chambers of commerce and boards of trade and other organizations, the Counties Exhibits affords a way to see and appreciate the best agricultural commodities and landscapes of California’s diverse climates all in one location. This year’s theme “California—Create, Inspire & Innovate” will showcase the different cultures, tourism attractions, recreational facilities, and treasures each county has to offer. Upon statehood in 1850, California created 27 counties; today there are 58. The Counties Building also contains areas where Fair goers can enjoy informative lectures and demonstrations, a food court, a post office, and the California Authors Booth.
